The Orobie Bergamasche Natural Park

Hiking over paths that reach unspoilt mountain refuges set in awesomely pure and authentic mountain scenery.

The natural park called Parco delle Orobie Bergamasche stretches over 70,000 hectares and is commited to the care and conservation of the natural mountain environment, scenery and biodiversity. This is a very important signal for an area that is little more than an hour's drive from the city.

There are numerous country and mountain itineraries to be explored such as the great Orobie Path or Sentiero delle Orobie, the Path of Flowers or Sentiero dei Fiori which winds along the sides of the Area. The high altitude Curò path is not to be missed as it winds through the mountains of the Scalve Valley. There is also a well known path which goes from Valbondione to the natural rock-amphitheatre where on certain days of each year it is possible to see the spectacular Serio River Falls, the highest in Europe.

For an experience of a natural scenery at its best there is the Orobie path, divided into the East and West Orobie, which will also take nature lovers to the most important mountain refuges in the area. In the Seriana Valley, hiking up above the Curò Refuge at 1900 meters above sea level, it is possible to reach the natural lakes of Barbellino where marmots and groups of chamois can be seen as they race over the mountain terrain. Not to mention the Coca refuge with its lake and stunning cobalt blue waters of unforgettable beauty. Moreover the superb climbs up the walls of the Dolomite-like walls of the Presolana, perhaps the most beautiful mountain in the Bergamo area leading to the Presolana Pass which links the Seriana valley with the Scalve valley. From here dedicated hikes will head for the marvellous Albani refuge.

Walks and hikes for all tastes, for the family looking for easy walks as well as for the mountaineer wishing to face new challenges over much more difficult ways.
